Star-studded 6star Roxy Chicken Jam Cancelled Due To High Winds
0Kaprun, Austria–December 14th, 2008: Winds gusting up to 140 km/hour combined with flat light caused the Swatch TTR 6Star Roxy Chicken Jam to be called off. Event organizers cancelled the competition after assessing the difficult weather conditions. “The weather didn’t let us ride the contest, but next year I’ll be back for sure because I think it is a great event for girls,” said Claudia Fliri.
The organizers were sad to announce the decision to the awaiting snowboarders and media, however, the riders’ safety was the main concern. “There is so much wind up there so we had to cancel the Roxy Chicken Jam here in Kaprun this year. I’m happy as it’s safer for everyone. Next year it is going to happen again for sure!” said Tina Birbaum, founder of the event. (more…)

08-09 Roxy Labor of Love Review
0Colorful, energetic and very motivational, this is one that every female snowboarder should watch. It won't bore the boys, either.
Labor of Love is a breath of fresh air for girls' snowboard (and ski) footage. In a video that is very clearly filmed, with camera angles that show off features and tricks very well, and is fun and girly but not super touchy-feely, it is a video that every female shredder should watch for motivation. There is so much male dominated snowboard footage on the market that should not be missed, but as a female, nothing replaces watching girls who rip and hit natural and park features and kill it in flat-land jibbing. The motivation boost comes from the fact that what they are doing is more attainable if you are a female rider. LOL has a lot of integrity.
The editing and cinematography noticeably add to LOL, however I found the soundtrack to be somewhat annoying. The movie is edited perfectly to it and there are several good songs, but overall, the music was a bit zany.
I like that it is the Roxy female skiers and snowboarders combined and I was interested in the ski parts, even though I really am not great on two sticks. There is a vibrant use of features, color and location that keep it moving and energetic. The ski and snowboard parts are mixed in and are not by a rider part, but more with tricks and features, which also keeps it flowing. The entire main movie is super, and hard to say anything that stands out because I thought it all did. However, the extra called "Extra LOL" that starts with Alexis' section, really stands out. The only other extra, Japaneir, is a bunch of random footage from Japan that is well edited and adds a lot of cultural flavor. That said, it is hard to watch if you get motion sick.
