We are a community of people who love our winters, and in many cases, it’s how we make our living. So it only makes sense that we unite to do whatever we can to fix the damage that’s being done to the season and lifestyle we love.

Obviously, it’s going to take cooperation on a global scale to address everything from fossil fuel emissions to renewable energy solutions – but if our community harnesses our collective energy and puts forth a focused effort, we can have a direct influence on reversing the damage that’s been done and ensure that winters are here for generations behind us. Purchase of Energy Credits Reinforces Conservation Efforts at Wintergreen Resort

WINTERGREEN, Va., October 19, 2007 – As part of its ongoing initiative to be energy efficient and environmentally responsible, Wintergreen Resort has purchased renewable energy credits (RECs) from Renewable Choice Energy that will significantly offset its consumption during the next year. An REC purchase guarantees the amount of electricity the resort uses is replaced onto the power grid with renewable electricity. (more…)

Alyeska Resort Goes Green

GIRDWOOD, AK – Alyeska Resort announced today that it was offsetting the carbon footprint of 100 percent of the energy used by its Tram by purchasing 403,200 kilowatt-hours of annual renewable energy over the next ten years. Alyeska Resort’s purchased the carbon footprint offset through a partnership with Denali Green Tag’s Tour Green Program and Bonneville Environmental Foundation’s (BEF) SkiGreen program which provides clean energy options throughout the State of Alaska. “The Denali Green Tag program affords the resort and its customers an opportunity not only to offset much of Alyeska’s carbon footprint, but to do so in support of renewable energy resources right here at home, more specifically the Fire Island wind project,” commented John Byrne, Alyeska Resort owner. “I would like to thank Larry Daniels, Jason Lott, and Rosey Fletcher for bringing this issue to the forefront. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Offsets 100% Energy Use

JHMR is offsetting 100% of our electricity usage with renewable energy from a renewable source mix including wind, biomass, small hydro and geothermal. January is Learn to Ski/Ride Month in Colorado
