Diamond Peak Hosts Snowbomb Lil Air Festival on April 5th

Incline Village, NV- Kids ages 10 and under have a chance to catch big air off a little jump at the Snowbomb Lil Air Festival at Diamond Peak! Every kid gets 2 runs off of a 1-ft. jump built at the bottom of Lodgepole.

Registration will be from 9:00-10:30 am and the contest will start at 11:30 am. The entry fee is $20 and everybody will receive a Huck Doll and a Certificate of Achievement! Additional activities include a snowman-making contest and other games. An on-hand photographer will be there taking photos of the kids available for purchase in a commemorative frame and Diamond Pete the Penguin will make a special appearance!

Diamond Peak Presents the Stallar Jiblet January 24-25, 2009

Incline Village, NV- Intermediate/advanced freestyle skiers and snowboarders are invited to participate in a one-of-a-kind event, the Stallar Jiblet! The Stallar Jiblet will take place on special features in front of the base lodge deck. The event is open to skiers and snowboarders of intermediate/advanced abilities and the divisions are as follows:

Skiers (Men/Women)
11 and under
12-16 yrs. old
Open

Snowboarders (Men/Women)
11 and under
12-16 yrs. old
Open
Special features will be made just for the Stallar Jiblet. It’ll be a jam-style format with a winner-take-all cash prize for each of the Open divisions. The price of the event is $10 or $5 if you wear a costume (per day). All of the registration money goes into a winner-take-all pot. Here’s the schedule of events:

Saturday, January 24th
9:30-11:00 am- Registration in the base lodge
10:00-12:00 pm- Practice
12:00 pm- Rider’s meeting
12:00-3:00 pm- Event

Sunday, January 25th
9:00-10:30 pm- Registration in the base lodge
10:00-11:00 pm- Practice
12:00-3:00 pm- Event
3:30-4:00 pm- Awards Ceremony
The awards ceremony will be held on Sunday after the event and prizes include two Stallar snowboards, Diamond Peak swag, and more.

Diamond Peak Presents the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Poker Run on January 4th

Incline Village, NV- Once again the Poker Run is back, and the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe has become its title sponsor! The Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Poker Run is taking place on January 4th at Diamond Peak Ski Resort from 10:00 am-1:00 pm.

Registration is at the Base Lodge Loft Bar at 9:00 am and the entry fee is $10, which includes a T-shirt. There are five clearly-marked dealers at different locations on the mountain with a deck of cards. Each participant is given a card with clues on where to find them. Ski or snowboard around until you find the dealers and then pull a card. You have two hours to find the dealers. Once your clue card is fully marked turn it back into the Loft Bar.

Diamond Peak Poker Run

Results and awards will be taking place in the Diamond Peak Loft Bar at 2:00 pm. Head on over to the Hyatt Regency’s Cutthroats Salon for Happy Hour specials specifically for Poker Run participants!

The person with the best hand wins and top prizes include two Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe spa treatments, one gift certificate for a weekend stay at the Hyatt, and great Diamond Peak swag. Other sponsors for this event include Stallar Skate & Snow.

Diamond Peak Ski Resort Opens December 18, 2008

Incline Village, NV- Diamond Peak opening day for the 2008-09 season will be Thursday, December 18, 2008. Because Diamond Peak will be opening with three chairs and four trails, there will be a discounted pricing schedule until further notice. Purchase an adult all-day lift ticket for only $29, an Interchangeable Parent Pass for only $29, or bring a season pass from another resort and purchase a lift ticket for only $25! Community Appreciation Day is December 18th; anyone within a 50-mile radius can purchase an Adult daily lift ticket for only $20 when you show a local ID.

Diamond Peak Passholder Appreciation Day is December 18th! Diamond Peak season pass holders can enjoy a free BBQ on Opening Day! Coupons were mailed out with the season passes. Please bring your BBQ coupon on Opening Day. (Note: Even if your coupon says “Only Valid Dec. 11, 2008”- it will still be valid on Opening Day) The Passholder BBQ lunch options include: burger, cheeseburger, pulled pork, or veggie wrap. The Diamond Peak Base Lodge Grand Opening Was a Huge Success

Incline Village, NV- Diamond Peak Ski Resort held a Base Lodge Grand Opening on December 6th and over 600 people were in attendance! The Base Lodge Grand Opening featured live music by Emily Tessmer, a Passport Adventure, text message contests, a “Name this Meeting Room” contest, and an Oldest Pass Contest. Diamond Pete gave out 2009 IVGID calendars, Santa Claus gave a snow prayer, and the Pet Network brought puppies to adopt. Appetizers and beverages were provided by the IVGID Food & Beverage Department and proceeds from the Loft Bar were donated to the Diamond Peak Ski Education Foundation.

At the end of the evening, the “Oldest Pass Contest” winner was announced and a pair of 2009 Diamond Peak Last Tracks season passes were given to Steve Silla, for bringing in a 1969 Ski Incline “Season Ticket”. Congratulations, Steve!

Diamond Peak held a Kids Art Contest encouraging local kids in the Crystal Bay/Incline Village area to place a Diamond Pete sticker in the new Child Ski Center, slated to be built in 2010. The winners of the art contest were announced at the Grand Opening and their artwork was displayed in the passport locations. The winners in grades K-6 were given a medal, certificate, $50 Diamond Peak gift card, and $5 gift certificate to Susie Scoops/Village Toys. The newly renovated Diamond Peak Base Lodge features a new 300 sq. ft. meeting room, a renovated Loft Bar with raised ceilings and skylights, and a new third floor outside patio with heated paving stones. More lockers have been added to the Locker Room, and the Rental Shop has been expanded 800 sq. ft. New paint, furnishings, light fixtures, and more were added as part of the $4 million dollar renovation.

Two Diamond Peak Ski Patrollers Announced Patrol Director of the Year and Pro Patroller of the Year

Incline Village, NV- The Eastern Region of the National Ski Patrol just named Diamond Peak Patrol Director Dennis Griffiths Patrol Director of the Year and veteran Diamond Peak ski patroller Jim Whitson Pro Patroller of the Year. This region includes all Lake Tahoe area ski resorts. Over 50 ski patrollers attended the NSP Award Ceremony/On-the-Hill Retraining at Diamond Peak Ski Resort on November 7, 2008.

Diamond Peak Patrol Director Dennis Griffiths and Diamond Peak Ski Patroller Jim Whitson were nominated by their peers for these awards and then they were submitted to the National Ski Patrol. The NSP judges chose Dennis Griffiths and Jim Whitson for these awards based on customer comments, tenure, skier visits versus accident ratio, and commitment to retraining. Diamond Peak Ski Resort is thrilled to have a strong ski patrol dedicated to safety and customer satisfaction.

Diamond Peak Base Lodge Renovation Update: October 8, 2008

Incline Village, NV- The Diamond Peak Base Lodge Renovation continues on-schedule and on-budget. Phase 1 of the Diamond Peak Renovation is set for a completion of November 1, 2008.

The roof framing is 90% complete with the start of roof sheeting scheduled for this week. Wall framing on floor 3 is 75% complete and drywall installation and exterior siding has started on floor 2. The final finish concrete pour is scheduled for this week with all site grading scheduled for completion by 10/15. Interior work, plumbing, and electrical continues to progress.

The total renovation set for a completion on November 1st includes new restrooms in the Loft Bar area, a 300 sq. ft. banquet room, a new food service counter, an outside deck with a stairway that leads to the bottom of the lodge, an expanded rental shop, expanded Food & Beverage storage, raised Loft ceilings with skylights, upper deck with heated paving stones, new siding, new F&B offices, fresh paint, new carpet, new fixtures, and more!

Incline Village, NV- Now that airlines are charging anywhere from $25-$75 to carry extra baggage and recreation equipment, what are you going to do when you plan your ski trip to Lake Tahoe? Well, Diamond Peak understands that with the extra baggage charge, it’s probably not worth it to lug ski equipment around the airports, so Diamond Peak is offering 50% off a ski or snowboard rental when you show your airline boarding pass. Take out the hassle of flying with your ski equipment!

Restrictions on the offer include:

- Boarding pass must show an arrival destination of Reno/Tahoe between the months of December 2008-April 2009
