Denver to Host National Youth Summit Growing Movement to Get One Million Kids in Winter Sports by 2020
1January 26, 2010 (DENVER, CO) —With an estimated 20,000 attendees packing the Convention Center in Denver for the SnowSports Industries America (SIA) trade show at the end of the month, a movement has emerged to engage more youth in winter sports.
The SIA Snow Show itself highlights some of the latest trends and innovations in the winter sports industry while showcasing the importance of the $3 billion industry to the U.S. and Colorado’s economy. A number of Show attendees, representing manufacturers, retailers, resorts and nonprofits have joined forces with government agencies and politicians to promote the benefits of getting youth involved in winter sports activities. TransWorld SNOWboarding Announces Nominees For The 11th Annual Riders’ Poll Awards
1Winners To Be Announced On Friday, January 29, 2010 In Denver, Colorado
The biggest night in snowboarding is coming to Denver! The 11th Annual TransWorld SNOWboarding Riders’ Poll Awards will be held at The Fillmore Auditorium in Downtown Denver, Friday, January 29, 2010 during the SIA trade show. The Riders’ Poll Awards honors snowboarding’s top riders-the winners are determined by polling more than 125 professional snowboarders worldwide. In addition, thousands of TransWorld SNOWboarding readers cast their votes for the winner of the Men’s and Women’s Reader’s Poll Award. This year, TransWorld will also return to honoring the legends of snowboarding with the Legend Award-past winners include Craig Kelly, Terry Kidwell, and Damien Sanders. This year, the Legend Award goes to backcountry pioneer, pro rider, Alaska guide, Tahoe local, and all around good guy-Tom Burt.
For the first time in history, this event will be open to the public. Come celebrate with us as the world’s best snowboarders cheer on the nominees for the biggest honor in snowboarding. (more…)
Backyard Bang Denver
4Salomon Snowboards and Bonfire Outerwear has been putting on the Backyard Bang in Portland, Oregon for a couple of years now, and for Winter 2010 they brought it to Denver, Colorado. The crew closed down a street in downtown Denver, and we were there to capture the fun. (more…)
Salomon Pro Team To Appear At Backyard Bang Denver
0DENVER, CO. (Nov. 13. 2009) The first annual Backyard Bang Denver is shaping up with a stacked rider list and a forecast that calls for potential snowfall at the first ever downtown rail jam at the Art Institute of Colorado on November 21st at 11am.
Salomon’s Pro team will be in town as part of their Team Tour, hitting local shops from coast to coast. Louif Paradis, Jed Anderson, Chris Grenier, Bode Merrill, Scotty Arnold, Harrison Gordon and Chris Carr will be hanging at the event, while local Pro’s and Ams compete for the first place cash. Backyard Bang Rail Jam Brings Snowboarding to the City
1[DENVER, CO, October 28, 2009] – Kick off the winter season with the 1st annual Denver Backyard Bang Rail Jam, a grassroots snowboarding competition held Saturday, November 21, 2009 from 11 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at The Art Institute of Colorado at 1200 Lincoln Street in downtown Denver.
Hosted by Salomon Snowboards and The Art Institute of Colorado, the homegrown rail jam brings the best up and coming pros and amateurs from the Rocky Mountain region and beyond to compete in the heart of Denver’s Golden Triangle District. (more…)
Snow and Gore: Day 2 of “30 Days on the Road”
6Wednesday 10/28 was day number two of my “30 Days on the Road” blog feature. Check out Airports: Day 1 of 30 Days on the Road if you missed it.
The day started in Boulder at 7 am with a quick check to see if the foot of snow on the ground was going to mess with travel out of Denver. Aside from Frontier cancelling a few flights everything looked good, so at 7:30 am I was out the door and on my way to catch the RTD Skyride bus back to Denver. The bus was thirty minutes late, but given the road conditions that was probably pretty good. (more…)
