04-05 Convert Lunar X Review
0I am totally psyched about these pants and am having good times in them- expecially when conditions are drier.
These are some of the coolest looking snow pants I have ever seen! They are more straight in the leg, but with the baggy cargo look and a cargo pocket on the right leg, just above the knee. I like that they are long, not excessively, and go over boots/ bindings nicely without riding up. There is a re-enforced cuff at the bottom of each pant cuff, so in case they are too long and drag, they won’t wear out. The mesh-lined leg vents go from mid-calf to mid thigh so there is a lot of ability for climate control. It is the back pockets that really make the look. They are angled down and have a fan-shaped pattern that gives the spice to the overall appearance. These are also very comfortable, mesh lined, adjustable in the waist and breathable. It would be better if they were more waterproof, but otherwise they are perfect.
04-05 Convert Vividiva Review
0Nothing too fancy, it is a good, basic, snowboarding coat.
This coat is very crisp and sophisticated looking. It has the appearance of a freshly pressed white shirt. I like the design on it, an artsy placement of grey and light blue lines on a white background. The coat has the typical Convert comfy liner in the torso area and is just a shell around the arms. The hood zips off and it has big pit vents. It is a good mid-weight snowboarding coat and will work over other layers or on its own for comfort. I found it to be breathable and adaqueately waterproof. There is nothing outstanding nor is there anything wrong, it is just a functional layer.
04-05 Convert Snowborne Review
0For $54 the Convert Snowborne Glove is a little pricey for what you get, but it is a decent glove for beginners or those looking for simplicity.
The Convert Snowborne Glove is a basic glove that has no crazy features except for a goggle squeegee. The glove is comfortable and styled well with Velcro cuffs and nice colors. It isn’t quite warm enough for colder climates and may be too bulky for warmer ones, but would be a great choice for someone looking for gloves that aren’t priced outrageously or loaded with too many features.
03-04 Convert Iridium Glow Review
0When it comes down to it, for the price, the Convert Iridium Pant is a great deal and a great fit.
Most snowboarders are very particular about what they wear on the slopes. I used to shrug Convert off as a lesser brand and wouldn’t have thought that I’d end up loving these pants. The Iridium Glow Pant is a great mix of form and function for the price. At only $135 these pants are priced at a point where anyone can afford them, and for the beginner who is looking for a good product for the price or the serious rider looking for a nice change of flavor, these pants deliver.
When I first put them on I immediately noticed how comfortable and natural they felt, and during riding they had great range of motion. At a closer look I noticed how many cool features this pant has. It features the always appreciated side mesh vents, fleece lined butt and knees, two front and one back pockets, articulated knees for a super natural range of motion, and my favorite feature, the cuff zips for extra boot room or steez factor, only instead of having the zips on the side, they’re on the front for an original look that people notice.
These pant are light so they wouldn’t do well in colder climates and the waterproofing rating is a bit low, but to deal with that, you can periodically use a wash in waterproofer (see waterproofing reviews).
03-04 Convert Iridium Glow Review
0Style and functionality join together well for someone looking for a lightweight outer layer.
The Iridium Glow is Convert’s mid-to-lower level pant in the Velocity series. It is a fairly basic pant, stripped down to the essential elements that make snowpants good, and without any of the extras you probably won’t use anyways.
I tested these pants in conditions ranging from 10 inches of powder to sunny Colorado winter days. My favorite feature is the very tight fitting HydroPlus gaiters with boot clips. It provides a waterproof interface with your boot that guarantees dry socks at the end of the day (unless you land in a creek). The stash pocket located on the outside of the right leg allows you to safely and inconspicuously store a tool, trail map, lighter, or whatever else you may need on the hill for the day.
These pants are lined with a thin fleece layer in the seat, and a breathable mesh material throughout. The side vents are also lined with mesh, to keep most of the snow out if you take a spill while cruising with the vents open.
Without suspenders and a fairly low waist belt, these are not the best for big mountain, big powder day riding, but they are ideal for springtime conditions or all day jib sessions in the park.
03-04 Convert Vortex Satellite Review
0Overall, the Convert Vortex Satellite Parka is an impressive jacket that allows you to perform and look good doing it.
Being a little skeptical at first of the Convert line, any preconceptions that I had before trying this jacket on quickly vanished after I rode with it. The fact is that the Vortex Satellite Parka is dope, pure and simple. For the money, it has all the features found in comparably priced, big name jackets.
Features like articulated elbows for a really natural fit, an internal music pocket big enough for those near VCR sized CD players, pit zip vents for well, ventilation, removable hood with goggle cinches, powder skirt for the good days, five pockets plus goggle pocket, Velcro cuff cinches, and others.
The one thing that I think could be better is the waterproof rating. At only 5,000mm, it offers a little protection from moisture but would obviously be much better with a higher rating. Although it has a low waterproof rating, the jacket does feature critically taped seams for added protection from the elements.
03-04 Convert Quantum Spectra Parka Review
0If you’re looking for the steez of a puffy down jacket, but want to avoid the usual price-tag, then Convert’s Qunatum Spectra Parka is one of the best bets. Great style, extremely warm, and at a lower than average price – it’s a pretty hard to beat deal.
As anyone can tell by looking at mountain fashion, the down parka look is big right now. Convert hit the nail on the head with this puffy jacket. Everything about it works right; it was well designed from looks to function to the little details.
Although it doesn’t have a very high waterproofing level, when it is cold enough that you need this parka, you probably won’t have a problem with getting wet. The shell fabric is a very tightly woven rip-stop fabric that has proved extremely resistant to any kind of snagging.
This coat is warm. It handles temperatures of -20 F without a problem, add some kind of medium-weight layer underneath, and it is easily good to -40 F, and maybe below. There were a couple of days that seemed cold enough to justify wearing this coat, which then turned warm; in no time I was sweating, and had to switch it out for a lighter-weight one. The Quantum Spectra uses a synthetic fill, but it is so light-weight and warm that you can’t even tell that it isn’t down. Also, whatever the synthetic filling is, it compresses very well, and re-inflates almost instantly, making it easy to cram into a small backpack space “just in case”.
There are plenty of pockets, two inner chest pockets, either of which can be used for a media player, two lower outer pockets, and one outer chest pocket that works great for a digital camera. The armpits have zips, so you can somewhat control the heat if the temperature swings up during the day. The hood also zips off, but I don’t really like the non-hood look, it’s a little too generic. As long as the hood is on it has a very distinctive snowboard style.
03-04 Convert Tempest Dial Review
0These are a good price-point pant and definitely covers the basic features.
These pants are rockin with pockets. Sometimes on the lift, you need to get some chapstick or snacks (don’t want to pass out again) so they have pockets that are just above your knee for easy access. They also have the normal pockets that you could keep money in or whatever.
I like how the powder skirt buttons over your boots and hooks to your laces to keep the powder out of your boots so you stay dry. My favorite thing is the mini zipper on the outside of your foot that you can unzip to wideleg your pants when you’re chillin at the base or whatever. Girl snowboarders gots to look cute, right?
