Snow Guns Blazing at Sun Peaks Resort
0October 10, 2008 – Sun Peaks, BC – Snowmaking has started at Sun Peaks…the earliest start in the history of the resort and the first in the country to start the Snowmaking 2 – Corey Wiwcharprocess. “We believe we are the first resort in Canada to start snowmaking this season,” says Anne Haight, Marketing Director with Sun Peaks Resort Corporation.
Cold temperatures allowed mountain crews to fire up the snowmaking plant last night to start blanketing the OSV and Upper Cahilty runs. (more…)

Renewable Power Project at Whistler Blackcomb Offsets Mountains’ Annual Energy Consumption
0WHISTLER, BC, September 12, 2008 – Construction has begun on a renewable energy project that will offset the total annual energy consumption at Whistler Blackcomb. The Fitzsimmons Creek Hydro Project, located entirely within Whistler Blackcomb’s operating area, will produce 33.5 gigawatt hours of hydro electricity per year – the equivalent of powering the ski resort’s winter and summer operations including 38 lifts, 17 restaurants, 269 snowguns and countless other buildings and services.
