09-10 Snowbird Review
0Amazing resort
With out a doubt Snowbird is the best resort in the Wasach Front! This is going to be my second full season of snowboarding here in Utah, and I would recommend Snowbird to be on the list for everyone who visits Salt Lake City. I moved here just over a year ago and have been to quite a few resort and Snowbird, by far, has the best runs, accomodations and to top it off overall atmosphere.
To add to the winter season, Snowbird also offers snowmobiling packages. If your not into the outdoor winter activites, there are great shops, resturants and spas to hang out in.
Not only is this a great resort for the winter but Snowbird also has many summer activites as well. Right now they have Octoberfest going on, which is great for everyone who wants to get away from the city during the weekend and relax in a beautiful fall surroundings, which does include great food and drinks.
I would recommend everyone who visits Utah for any season to check out Snowbird resort and get a taste and what Utah is about.
08-09 Powdr Corporation Boreal Review
0We arrived at Boreal early, went to the Lodge and had coffee the employees at the Lodge were smiling and happy. Then off to the hill. First thing after we strapped on our skis, we bought our tickets from the ticket gal, who by the way was wonderful and very helpful on where we should ski, this was a pleasure, and we were off to a great start. We then headed off to the mountain.
Our third encounter was a charm! The Lift Operators were most excellent. What a great experience we had. We met a couple of lift operators, I believe their names were Nancy and Jeff. These two made our experience so wonderful, as they were friendly, experienced, patient, courteous, and FUN! They helped start off our day in a positive, exciting and fun manner. They both were cracking us up. We enjoyed most of our day skiing the freestyle terrain, and riding on the lifts. We only encountered one bad experience the whole day and that was with a Ski Patrol by the name of Larson. He acted with total disregard to our enjoyment. He was belligerent and made one to many, sexual, rude, and downright nasty comments to us. My girlfriends and I were a little scared of this guy. He is supposed to representing Skiing as a National Sport that offers fun and safety to the customers who pay money to ski at their mountain. My friends and I won’t be back to Boreal, because of this guy’s belligerent behavior toward us. When we told him not to speak to us, he then got very angry. We were concerned for our safety at Boreal because of this man. Boreal you started our day off great but it ended in fear that we were going to get sexually assaulted by your Patrolman Larson. Great freestyle terrain and great for Borders, but we will ski elsewhere from now on. Thanks anyway.
08-09 Peak Resorts Mount Snow Review
0Wonderful runs, tons of options, great freestyle park….just great all around!
Hey all! I just got back from a weekend trip to Mount Snow and I can’t rave enough about this mountain. Nowhere near as crowded as Killington, and it had amazing runs. Tons of intermediate runs for someone who is past the greens, but really great long green ones to challenge even the most advanced rider.
I got to see the amazing Dew Tour setup, and their Carinthia park was unbelievable.
Tons of powdery snow, fast lifts, great weather. An overall WONDERFUL experience.
08-09 Intrawest Panorama Review
0This resort is perched in the scenic purcells of interior BC, Canada. It is owned and operated by Interwest and also has heli-skiing to many other mountains.
There are tons of runs for everyone from the smallest children to the most seasoned veterans. The runs range from green to double black with two terrain parks and several bowls. There are four highspeed chairs and a warm village atmosphere, you never wait for a lift and meet the friendliest people. Accommodations on the hill eliminate the long drive up the hill every morning. Overall a great experience.
08-09 Vail Resorts Keystone Review
0Keystone fffers a little of it all for the boarder in search of the top to the bottom expeirence.
Keystone has a little of it all – Steep, Deep, Fast, and Terrain – I want to talk about the back bowls.
If you want to take a couple of lifts and find yourself lost less then 45 minutes from the time you sit on the chair, then Keystone is your place. Take a total of 3 lifts and be at the entrance to one of the best kept secerets of the rockies. The back bowls of Keystone hold endless potential and powder, trees, exploring inbounds.
An example of the consistancy of this area: On the 14th of April 2 years in a row now we have managed to ride 12-16" of powder with hardly a single line. On the right day, you may ride 1/2 mile of crust and end up in 24" of powder when no snow has fallen. I discovered by accident where that place is hidden. I am not going to say where, but if you take the right wrong turn after a little of hiking, then you will find it too.
08-09 Intrawest Steamboat Springs Review
0Have never ridden a resort with better snow
Steamboat is amazing. Last season was an epic winter, with the mountain receiving more than 500" of snow. The people are friendly, there is great terrain, and it's just a generally awesome place to be!
I do have to say, their park is pretty lacking compared to the other mountains in Colorado, but it's hard to complain when you're taking advantage of the rest of their terrain.
07-08 Intrawest Winter Park Review
0Winter Park and Mary Jane provide a lot of terrain to explore and are worth a several day visit. However, the downside is there are many long, green runs that are required to navigate the mountain. The night life is also very slow and does not have much option compared to somewhere along the I-70 corridor or in a bigger town like Steamboat.
Winter Park offers a wide variety of terrain. It just so happens that the mountain is naturally separated into areas of interest. Mary Jane is mostly moguls with some great tree runs and moderately challenging blue runs dispersed throughout. If you are a skier and interested in bumps, there is no other area so purely devoted to them. For snowboarders, the Parsenn Bowl and tree runs are worth the ride. The rest of the moguls get old.
Within Winter Park proper, the middle mountain area is full of sick park features, beginner terrain, beginner park features and some other runs. The most friendly, least visited side of the mountain is the far right hand side where the Pioneer Express accesses several blue trails.
Winter Park and Mary Jane are not the most snowboard friendly in regards to getting from place to place. There are many flat, long cat-tracks that if you don't hold enough speed will have you walking or hitching a ride from a passing ski pole. The long green runs that were absolutely necessary to get place to place drove me crazy but besides that, once on the run your are trying to get to, there are some beautiful, quiet runs with nicely spaced trees to ride through.
The town of Winter Park is beyond boring after a day of exploring. If you combine Winter Park and the few po-dunk towns that surround it, what is offered is very limited. There are a handful of great restaurants, like Hernando's Pizza, but besides riding and going out to dinner in town (not much in the base area, which is under heavy construction right now), there really isn't much else to do.
Winter Park is a mountain I would ride occasionally for specific reasons, being some of the tree runs and certain areas of the mountain I really enjoyed. Besides that, it wouldn't be my destination trip after trip.
07-08 Vail Resorts Keystone Review
0Good mountain, great beginner terrain
I just spent three days learning to snowboard at Keystone. The snow was decent, but the mountain atmosphere was great. It was very laid back and low-key, I didn't feel totally out of place while falling all the time.
Keystone is a fun mountain, and a great place to learn how to ride. Their instructors are wonderful, and I will definitelly be coming back for more.
