Summary:
Despite a rough start, the Elite is a smooth, light board that has been an overall positive experience.
Review:
This board rides like butter; smooth, solid, and light. Because of the way the base layer is manufactured, it almost makes a humming, hollow sound when you ride. My second day up on this Forum, a surfer guy I met tried to spray me with snow but ended up clipping the front tip of the board - not a big deal, right? Four days later the top layer had started delaminating. The snow had gotten in between the layers and frozen, expanding the gap. This happens because either that batch of boards were cooked at the wrong temperature, or their was some mess up in the chemical makeup of the glue, both posing potential future problems. We talked to the company about it directly and Jeremy busted out the epoxy that night to seal it up, thanks! (Alaska boys come prepared)
That taken care of, it rides beautifully. I love the crisp edges and thin body. It's easy to control and jump turn on the bumps. (LOVE the bumps!) As far as the aesthetics, it's got a hologram crisscross pattern on the top of the white background, and a yellow base with the logo. Chris has the same base color and it looks like we're glowing or floating from underneath...
Another thing unique to forum is their sliding I-Lock bolt holes. A ruler along the slide helps you line up your stance distance. I thought it might let my stance shift as the day progresses, but it's actually quite secure and is easy to work, as long as you get the screw holes lined up. I like the flexibility I have with this element, it's easy to set my stance back or forward depending on the powder depth.
