Summary:
All-in-all, this is an incredible board, and should definitely be on your list of boards to check out. Keep an eye on Jeenyus, from my experience with the KJ, I think there is a new super-power in the industry.
Review:
Jeenyus marketing hype aside, Kevin Jones has been an idol and an inspiration to many riders, including many of the other top riders. It was with great anticipation that I unwrapped the board and mounted bindings; getting ready to ride at Steamboat Springs.
Kevin's board handled every single aspect of snowboarding flawlessly, and I suddenly found myself questioning whether the well known rider is actually any good, or if the board does all of the work for him. The complete all-terrain conquering abilities of this board are truly incredible. The nose is soft and buttery while the tail has enough pop to suck in huge landings. I found myself helplessly drawn to nose-presses and manuals; the nose flexes just enough that you can easily bend it, but it's not so soft that you have to worry about going over. While launching numerous cliffs and cats into big pillow powder drifts I found that the board pulled me into the landing every time. It is also fast, even after running on the factory wax for a week I was still passing the rest of our crew on cats.
So, now that we have the function of the board laid out, let's move to the looks. Personally, I love them. Tons of little monkey heads that are invisible from some angles, and very easy to see from others. The base is jet black with a little monkey head set in orange under your back foot. I don't know what else to say, this board truly needs to be ridden to be believed.
I had my doubts about the I-lock system; it looked way too fragile. However, when the snow started falling after a freestyle session in the park, it let me quickly, and almost effortlessly move my bindings from centered, to all the way back. Any boarder who likes the park and powder equally will like this system as it means you don't have to either have two boards, or spend an hour adjusting your bindings while everyone else is getting first tracks.
