Summary:
A good sunglass option for a smaller face.
Review:
Panoptx has expanded their selection since I last tested the Chinook model. The Viento is a smaller frame than the Chinook and fits a smaller face much better. I recommend trying them on first because it is a narrow frame and you may find it to be too small. I personally think the Viento is a good addition to the line as the Chinook and Viento are really the only two frames that could work well for a smaller face.
Unlike the Chinooks, the Viento did not stretch out with use. Rather than being a relatively square frame like the Chinook, the Viento frame is molded to be more circular with the ear pieces pointing in toward each other. I had to break them in because I wanted them to stretch. They were too tight when new, getting better with time.
I noticed in testing this time that these glasses do not work well if there is any precipitation. Especially when it is snowing, the vents become blocked and the amount of moisture the foam soaks up makes them fog up. In dry conditions they maintain a good seal- which goes along with design since their main purpose is to protect you from wind.
These glasses are also meant to cut down on glare that comes from the ground up (snow or water). I really noticed the difference after having worn the Panoptx in regards to the amount of glare that hits you when wearing regular sunglasses. There is no question that this set up is for someone who spends a lot of time outside.
I continually look forward to more options in frames for smaller faces (specifically tailored to women) and this is a good next step from the Chinook. It fits my face in style and seal much better. That said, Annie looks awesome in the Chinook, so frame style really depends on personal preference. Check out one or the other and see what works best for you.
