Knowing there are few 100% powder days, the Abacus was designed to deliver “all-aspect” freeride performance. At speed, in mixed conditions, and across varied terrain, this powder stick’s your true, form-follows-function, mountain machine.

The Abacus is built with a burled eucalyptus wood-top. During construction, resin locks the dense wood fibers in place, creating a structural layer that improves board return and resilience. The Abacus also features a new blended paulownia core. Paulownia is light like balsa - yet strong. It allows us to reduce weight, while maintaining a high level of durability.

Keeping true to their roots Arbor has continued to build durable, quality boards of ecologically sustainable products. The goal from the beginning (1995) was “to do right by the planet” leaving the lightest ecological footprint possible. And in the process this small rider-minded company has advanced ahead of their times. The Arbor Abacus as an example utilizes a tapered-tail shape for a more fluid backseat ride. Some call it ‘surf-inspired.” I found the abacus to perform as good on groomer’s as it did in the Colorado backcountry with a stiff but consistent flex. I noticed a greater ability to land big cliff-huck's with this board’s unique shape creating amazing stability and control in out-of-control situations. Expect your stompability factor to increase ten-fold with this stick!

Arbor constructed the abacus with a full-length lacewood topsheet lending improved performance and an unbridled aesthetic exclusive to these boards. You can expect a sintered base with a Structurn finish to round it off. This unique technology gives the board’s base a golf ball-like pattern, essentially preventing a vacuum from forming between the snow’s surface and your base material. This translates to you accelerating past your friends on catwalks with a smooth and fluid ride.
