Summary:
The Burton Zoom is undoubtedly the best camera backpack in the snowboard market. It isn't quite perfect, but there is nothing better for carting your camera gear around while you're on the snow.
Review:
My general complaint with camera backpacks is that they’re too bulky. I understand that a professional photographer needs a huge backpack loaded with all sorts of equipment, and that padding is essential, but as someone that snowboards first and takes photos second, I’ve always felt too restricted by those large bags. I want to be able to snowboard, with minimal restrictions, but still be able to carry my Canon 20D without worrying about it. This is where the Zoom is so great. It’s aimed more at the casual photographer who might have an SLR, a lens or two, but doesn’t want that backpack to slow down their riding.

The Zoom is well padded to keep your gear safe, and compartmentalized so stuff doesn’t move around inside. I can throw in the 20D, tighten down the straps, and be out riding, but I’ve also maxed the bag out for an all day, hike-in photo-shoot, with the 20D and two lenses, a small digital camcorder, a tripod, a sweatshirt and an extra pair of lightweight gloves, and some food/water. The versatility of the bag is a part of the high marks in my book.

The backpack is also pretty much bomb-proof, with double-stitched seams, a water-resistant outer, beefy zippers, padded straps, and well all of the features you expect from Burton gear. The Zoom is comfortable while it’s on, and you don’t have to worry about it getting wet when it’s sitting on the snow.
