Summary:
These snowshoes are superior to any others on the market that I have seen or tried because of their fast in/out system and the size of the teeth.
Review:
Hiking through Rocky Mountain National Park's forests, clawing our way through hidden canyons amidst rock, buried streams and logs, and all with snowboards on our backs, these snowshoes did more than perform. I was especially impressed with the teeth and the secure hold I had on just about everything except steep powdery slopes. Aside from the truly steep ascents in powder, you can practically walk up walls of rock or snow/ice. These snowshoes are lightweight and the bindings come apart so that they may be flattened and easily strapped to a pack for travel. We hiked up canyons to snowboard down.
When dealing with taking snowshoes on and off a lot (in this case to switch between snowshoes and board bindings) or in severe cold, it is awesome to have a binding that is quick, simple and allows you to stay in your gloves. I had a few very small technical problems with tightening them. I found that you could tighten them ahead of time and later have a harder time connecting them (think in terms of a snowboard binding, minus the ratchet), or you could connect them and have a little bit harder of a time tightening them. The Tubbs binding with a ratchet on it would be superior over any other binding on the market. However, it was not a major issue and the overall convenience of the binding is still way more convenient than any other I have ever tried.
