Summary:
The Psolar HX Helmet Balaclava is an innovative product that works well, but really doesn\'t look at place in the snowboard market.
Review:
Having grown up in subzero temperatures, I can appreciate the value of a product that warms air before you breathe it. When the mercury drops below -30, you can feel your lungs freezing with each breath, and your body burns more energy just heating the air. The HX Helmet Balaclava combats this with a set of fins that capture heat from your breath when you exhale, and use that heat to warm the air you breathe in. It's an odd sensation – the air is freezing out, your hands go numb if you take your mitts off, yet the air you're breathing is above freezing. The argument is that this will leave more energy for you to ride with. The only problem I had with the heat exchanger was on a heavy powder day; the fins began to clog and ice up because there was so much snow.

The biggest drawback to the product is in its looks; the heat exchanger protrudes from your face by roughly 2 inches.. If you're totally unconcerned with your appearance, then maybe this isn't a problem, but for the style-savvy snowboard industry, this product falls flat on it's face.
