Summary:
Panoptx doesn't stop at snowboarding, and that is a bonus. You never see people biking or doing other extreme-sports in snowboarding goggles, but you may see them in these. They are pricy, but there are some multiple-use factors that you should keep in mind.
Review:
The Panoptx concept is brilliant. Take your normal sunglasses but make them your goggles. It is not an idea that was hard to sell me on. Something to keep in mind, however: they do not necessarily replace goggles. In extreme (cold) weather conditions I would not recommend the sunglasses based on the principle that a goggle gives you more facial-protection, not because the Panoptx wouldn't stand the test. They are tough glasses and are meant for sport-use.

I first used them in Alaska last spring as it started to thaw out and I needed less full-face coverage. It was nice to be able to soak up sun by wearing sunglasses and not have my eyes dry out in the process. Riding in conditions with any amount of wind, it made a difference to have the protection that the foam lining around the eyes had to offer (like an individual goggle for each eye). I really like that the foam is not bulky and does not make the sunglasses stick off the face in any abnormal-looking way. It is compact and does the trick.

I noticed over the course of the first few weeks wearing them that they started to stretch-out and this increased the amount of airflow through the glasses. They did not stretch out so much that it became a big problem, but it is something to consider. I had no problems with them fogging. Also along the line of sizing, they only come in one size that may or may not work for your face and may or may not look good on you. That is the one drawback to this product, there is not a lot of choice when it comes to appearance or size.

Panoptx may not have many lens frame-styles or sizes; however, there are lots of options for lens choice. The ones I tested were the highest-end lens, the Day/ Night lens. They are light sensitive and change depending on conditions. As Alaskan early-spring is still rather dark, it was useful to be able to wear them as it got darker and still be able to see. In Colorado full sun, it is super to have the darker lens. I notice that they sometimes take awhile to switch between the two, especially when going from a darker environment into a much brighter one. It takes a few minutes before you have to stop squinting. The lenses are polarized, so you are protected from the UV even if you find yourself squinting for a moment.
