Summary:
If you are looking for a good pair of snowpants with a lower price-tag, or just need snowpants but don't really care about the waterproofing (i.e. you live in Steamboat Springs and never have wet snow) then these are a great pick.
Review:
The Ace is a great pair of price-point pants from Special Blend. With only 5,000mm waterproofing it is definitely more likely to let your insides get wet, but I didn't experience any leakage in the time that I rode them. The Ace is not really insulated, but it does feel thicker than many other pants, and did become my snowpant of choice for the -20F days. The pants have a super cool slippery feel to them, which is a pain if you like to cross your legs (can't do it: your leg just slides off), but fun if you like butt-sliding rails. I put this to the test on my first frontside boardslide of the season; while the grey pants do show stains from the rust-coated rail, there is absolutely no evidence of damage to the pants.
The Ace, like the rest of SB's Compass line, has very clean lines, there aren't many pockets, and the pockets that it does have are recessed.
