04-05 Dakine Impala Review
Though my constantly frozen fingers prefer mittens, these are gloves are surprisingly warm and I wear them all the time. I have been pleased with the way they break in and have held up over time.
Gloves usually do not keep my fingers warm (I prefer mittens) however, I was happily surprised. Made out of Gortex, with a soft fleece inside, I still occasionally get cold fingers when wearing them, but not as much as I do with other gloves I have tried. This pair of gloves has been added to my mitten lineup.
When I first put them on, they seemed very stiff and tight. After a half a day of use, I had the mobility of any pair of well-worn work gloves. The outer material is very tough, with leather lined palms and thumbs (even double layered on some parts), and it is hard to tell they have had any wear and tear after heavy use. But even the leather has broken in to allow better finger movement.
The cuff length is about 2 inches, which is a bit too short so they just barely tighten down over a coat. However, a huge bonus is that they are never wet inside at the end of the day. The are very waterproof and warm.
