08-09 Union Binding Company Force Review

0

Union bindings are the most durable and comfortable bindings I have ever used. I have put around 200 days on my Union Datas and they are still going strong.

Don't waste your hard earned money on some shity binding that will only last you a season. I just got a new pair of Union Forces and they are solid. I put my old Datas on my split board beacause I trust them that much even when I'm in the back country. I swear by Union and I won't ride anything else.

07-08 Burton Triad Review

Ride the Burton Triads and you wont be singing the blues you will be praising them!

I was originally drawn to these bindings for their outstanding looks. The color scheme and over all appearance is a real eye catcher. They were the perfect choice for my new set up. They are light weight and super comfy. The extra cushioned base makes all the difference. What I love about these bindings is the fine tuning you can do to tweak them to your perfect stance. No complaints with these babies, except maybe the toe caps (I think its more of a personal issues though). The straps come extra padded which makes strapping in when you first get them a tricky job. But once you break them in….there's no stopping you!

Best bindings I have ridden. Feels great, you practically do not notice that they are there!

These bindings are amazing. First time I rode these I felt like I was directly attached to my snowboard. It felt like I was not even wearing bindings. They ankle strap is gel, and incredibly comfortable. The toe strap is amazing. Probably the top of the line toe strap. It is made of a flexible material that molds to your foot. I was skeptical at first, but it really works well.

These bindings can be tweaked in any way you can think of. You can change the capstrap, and anklestrap setting without a screwdriver, and you can rotate the highback which is optimal for a duck stance. The padding is also great on these bindings. There is some on top, as well as below the binding. There is a padded plate that goes over the screws so that the area there is padded as well. Everything in contact with your foot is padded, and these bindings are definately worth the money.

07-08 Burton CO2 Review

Ultra light and excessively comfortable.

These bindings are near perfect. They are probably the lightest bindings I've ever used to date (even lighter than my C60's). The reason that the CO2's are lighter than the C60's is probably because the high-back of the CO2's are substituted with Air-Mesh instead of a conventional solid material high-back.

Also, unlike the C60, which features the Ultra-Strap, the CO2's have the super plush and comfy straps featured on the P1's. I definitely prefer the CO2 straps 10 times better than my C60 straps. On the down side, I felt that the cap-straps on both bindings were made and designed pretty poorly. The quality and durability in the cap-straps are quite lacking considering the binding price, and their shape might not fit every boot out there.

All in all, the CO2 is so unbelievably light that I could almost not even feel the weight. In addition, the B3 gel in the heels, plus the plushiness of the ankle straps made this the No. 1 binding I have ever tried in terms of comfort. The built in FLAD dials also look very technical. In the end, these bindings are extremely comfortable and I would take these over the C60 any day, dollar for dollar, pound for pound. Plus, the lime green colour is just too sweet.

07-08 Head PX7 Review

After nailing the binding line in 2007, Head came back for more in 2008 and improved bindings that were already perfect. Head’s PX binding series defines the binding genre, and the PX7 is the ultimate in all-mountain bindings.

For 2008 Head took there already amazing PX series and managed to improve it in many ways. The new PX7 is the ultimate in all-terrain freestyle bindings.

The PX7 has all the features of the PX5, as well as a few more from the PX10. Highback adjustment is still done via the heelcup, as before, but for 08 the PX7 sports the highback rotation controls as well, which means you can perfectly adjust the highback to fit your boots, stance, and riding style.

The heel straps are a step up this year as well, using real leather in places. Toe straps are still neoprene that can be worn like regular toe straps or stretched and worn as capstraps. Head changed up the strap length adjustment mechanism, and the new one is a lot smoother, and feels a bit more solid; the ratchets are still among the best anywhere.

The attention to detail on the PX7 is incredible. There are little leather accents and polishing touches that really show off Head’s commitment to making this the best binding on the market. Everything that made the 2007 bindings great is still here, but there’s just a bit of new and better thrown in for good measure.

06-07 Burton Cartel Review

SICK!!!

What is there to say about the Cartel that hasn't been said before? This binding does it all at only a fraction of the cost of other higher end bindings. Burton steps things up every year with all their products and just when you think things are perfect, they push further. This year's Cartels come with tool-free adjustments, and super cushy bases along with everything else the previous Cartels came with.

I love the colors this year as well. I picked up a pair of the kelly green and I could not be any happier. They are soo responsive and comfy. I look forward to riding these bindings for years to come. The only drawbacks I noticed was the backs tend to wiggle side to side a bit. Other than that… these bindings are perfect.

06-07 Head PX10 Review

The PX10 is an all-mountain dominator. This is a highly functional binding, with a bunch of tweaks and perks that help put it out ahead of the pack.

I’m a bit of a purist when it comes to bindings; the move from the latch straps to ratchets was welcome, but I’ve never gotten into the quick-in/out systems, rear-entry, or step-ins. That said, I’ve really appreciated the tweaks that Head incorporated in their binding line.

The design of the binding is very unique, and it is obvious that Head put some R&D money into developing the fit and flow of the binding. Features like the swivel heel-cup and the rotating high-backs are nice, others, like the quick angle adjustment system, are super innovative.

One of the most noticeable improvements is the addition of hinge on the toe and heel straps that allows the strap to stay out of the way while you’re putting your foot into the binding. I thought it was a bit gimmicky at first, but it’s something that I’ve grown to love, especially while watching others pull theirs out of the way.

Performance-wise, you couldn’t ask for a better binding. The binding has a great stiffness that lets you really apply power straight to the board, but they’re still soft enough to let you tweak that Japan air. I would definitely say they’re a little better suited towards freeriding, as I prefer a slightly softer binding in the park, but if you’re an all-mountain rider, there really isn’t a better binding on the market.

06-07 Head PX5 Review

An incredibly solid freestyle binding. Lightweight, high-performance, and super stylish.

Head’s PX binding series is an example of how bindings should be designed. The PX5 is a lighter and softer compared to the PX5, making it ideal for the world of freestyle.

Once the PX5 is mounted to your board, you can take advantage of completely tool-free adjustments, like forward lean, which is adjusted using an innovative system where both the heelcup and the highback move together. A few of the top-end features you’ll find on the PX10 have been left out, but the PX5 still has all the important ones.

The straps are super comfortable, and are flexible enough to let you really tweak grabs. Head’s ratchets are super smooth, you’ll find yourself playing with them at first just because they’re so rad The bindings have a nice mellow toe ramp that helps to put the hammer down while still feeling stable as you ride into bigger kickers. The “Auto Open” straps are quite possibly one of the best additions to bindings, ever.

If you’re looking for new bindings, check out Head’s offering, and you’ll see why they’ve got everyone saying “I love Head!”
