Boreal Set to Open: Resort’s Earliest Opening on Record
2Donner Summit, CA, (October 6, 2009) – Boreal’s snowmaking efforts are about to break yet another record. Boreal is scheduled to turn on the Castle Peak Quad lift for the earliest season opener in the resorts history this Saturday, October 10th (possibly sooner should snowmaking crank-out more snow tonight).
To celebrate Boreal’s record breaking early opening, the 5th Annual Jibassic Public Invitational Event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, October 10th and 11th. This year’s event has been cooked up to feature all shredders willing to throw down great tricks for cash. Boreal is primed with $2,000 cash to be handed out on both Saturday and Sunday. Venue for best trick cash is the public park, open to all and built to Boreal terrain park perfection. Judges will include Robbie Sell from FUEL TV and the Boreal park crew. Wads of $20’s will be dished out from 12noon to 4pm on both days. (more…)
Kicking Horse Receives First Snowfall of the Season
0October 2nd, 2009, Golden, BC…. Kicking Horse Mountain Resort received it first snowfall this morning in the resort village. With a dusting in the village and close 15 cm of snow at the summit of the mountain, winter is well on its way and long-time locals are saying that all signs are pointing to a banner snow year.
“Kicking Horse is recognized for world-class snow quality and consistent, light and dry champagne powder,” says Steve Paccagnan, president and General Manager of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. “There is definitely electricity in the air about and all the signs are pointing to us having a big snow year. Heavenly Receives First Snow of the Season
0Heavenly Mountain Resort, Calif./Nev. – October 4, 2009 – Lake Tahoe’s first winter storm rolled through the area last night, dropping four to six inches of snow on Heavenly Mountain Resort above 9,000 feet, and three to four inches at Lake level. Winter has definitely made an appearance at South Lake Tahoe, and skiers and snowboarders are preparing for Heavenly’s opening day which is just 47 days away, scheduled for November 20, 2009, weather and conditions permitting. Successful Winter Season for All Wanaka Resorts
0LAKE WANAKA, New Zealand, (5 October, 2009) Lake Wanaka brought a successful winter season to a close at the weekend with all four resorts, Treble Cone, Snow Park NZ, Cardrona Alpine Resort and Snow Farm, reporting excellent visitor numbers, great snow conditions throughout and many successful world-class events.
For Cardrona Alpine Resort 2009 was a record breaker for both visitor numbers and accumulated snowfall. Winter started early with a huge snowfall in May. With ideal cool conditions and further snow Cardrona recorded its deepest (317cm) accumulated snowfall in the last decade, in August. Skiers and snowboarders from across both New Zealand and Australia flocked to the slopes in record numbers. Elite athletes used Cardrona’s 22ft Olympic halfpipe, the only one in Australasia, to train and compete in the lead up to the Olympics 2010, with renowned snowboarder Shaun White landing the first back to back double cork 1080 in history during the Burton New Zealand Open. Angel Fire Resort Lights up the Winter with the Only Night Skiing in New Mexico

Intrawest Recommends All Resort Guests to Wear Helmets, Requires Helmets in Kids’ Lessons
