VAIL, Colo. – Nov. 4, 2009 – This winter marks the 20th anniversary of commercial air service to Eagle Airport (EGE), and with it, the continuation of the ever-popular Kids Fly Free program. For each paid adult fare (age 18 and above) for direct commercial flights into Eagle Airport, American Airlines is offering one free child’s ticket for ages 2-12. Upon arrival, children also receive free transportation to and from Vail or Beaver Creek via Colorado Mountain Express (CME) with a paying adult; free skiing or riding at Vail and Beaver Creek with a paying adult; and free lodging with a paying adult at select properties in Vail and Beaver Creek. Snowmaking begins at Sugarloaf

Offseason upgrades increase efficiency, provide better early-season snow

CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine – With flurries falling and temps in the low to mid twenties this morning, Sugarloaf began snowmaking operations in preparation for the 2009/10 season. The familiar sound of snowguns echoed through Carrabassett Valley as snowmakers covered the upper section of Tote Road for several hours.

This morning’s snowmaking was a test of the system as Sugarloaf’s snowmakers prepare for a major snowmaking push over the next two weeks in preparation for opening day on Friday, November 20. The resort plans to open with skiing and riding on Tote Road, with lift service on the SuperQuad chairlift. If weather permits, crews are hopeful that they’ll be able add additional trails for opening day as well. (more…)

Sun Peaks, BC (November 3, 2009) – Epic early-season snowfall at Sun Peaks Resort has moved up opening day to Saturday, November 14, a week ahead of schedule! And as the first resort to open in the BC Interior this winter, Sun Peaks is gearing up for a huge celebration.

With the new opening day, it’s all about the number 14. The 2009-2010 Winter season begins 14 minutes early on the Sunburst Chairlift as the lift starts turning at 8:46am on Saturday, November 14. And if you’re lucky…a free or discounted lift ticket may be in the cards! (more…)

VAIL, Colo. – Nov. 2, 2009 – Vail Mountain and partner Highline Sports & Entertainment announced today that star-studded band Yukon Kornelius will perform an awareness concert for environmental non-profit Reverb on Fri., Dec. 11 as a part of Vail Snow Daze, Vail’s annual winter kick-off festival. Anchored by Stefan Lessard, bass guitarist from Dave Matthews Band, and joined by Ed Robertson of Barenaked Ladies, Adam Gardner of Guster and Eric Fawcett from N*E*R*D, Yukon Kornelius will take center stage at Vail’s Dobson Ice Arena with opening act Pete Kilpatrick Band.
