Sun Peaks Director of Skiing and Olympic Champion Nancy Greene says, “We are thrilled with the results of the recent Conde Nast Traveler poll which ranks Sun Peaks as the 2nd best ski resort in Canada, and 10th best in North America.”

Sugarloaf to open summit for the weekend

CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine – Thanks to more than two feet of natural snow in the past eight days, plus a revamped and enhanced snowmaking system, guests at Sugarloaf will be skiing and riding from the mountain’s lofty 4,237 foot summit tomorrow, as some of the best early season conditions in the resort’s history continue. The summit will open to skiers and riders a mere two weeks into Sugarloaf’s 2008-09 winter season.

In addition, Sugarloaf has opened a full-size terrain park in the Stomping Grounds, and plans to open terrain in its eastern bowl, pushing its trail count close to 70 for the weekend. Sugarloaf currently features the most open terrain of any resort in the east. (more…)

More Terrain Set to Open at Sun Peaks Resort

November 27, 2008 – Sun Peaks, BC – With snow in the forecast for the next four days, Sun Peaks Resort is working to expand the amount of terrain open to the public. On Friday morning, the 5 Mile run will be open down to the valley, providing 600 vertical metres and over 6km of skiing on Cahilty and 5 Mile.

“Crews are also working diligently on Gentle Giant, which is serviced by the two conveyor lifts,” says Anne Haight, Director of Sales and Marketing with Sun Peaks Resort Corporation. “This will provide some excellent teaching terrain for those strapping on skis or a snowboard for the first time.” (more…)

Park City, Utah (November 25, 2008) – Park City Mountain Resort opens for the 2008-09 winter season this Friday, November 28, 2008, with PayDay and First Time lifts.

Colder temperatures have finally arrived after warm weather and a lack of precipitation has affected the region for the last two weeks. Park City Mountain Resort’s snowmaking team has been working non-stop to prepare the Resort for opening day. The snowmaking team continues to make snow this week, temperatures permitting, in order to provide excellent conditions for opening day, with wall to wall snow on the runs that are open. (more…)
