Four Days Left to be the Sun Peaks Snow Bum!

Sun Peaks, BC (November 12, 2009) – Wannabe Snow Bums have just four days left to enter to win a once-in-a-lifetime competition at Sun Peaks Resort. The I want to be the Snow Bum contest launched on October 1, 2009 and word about the opportunity has spread around the globe through social media and buzz awareness. Nine countries have been represented with submissions on www.snowbumcanada.com, and more entries are coming in every day! There are already potential snow bums from Germany, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Brazil, USA, New Zealand and France.
“It’s fantastic to see so many people from different parts of the world expressing their excitement about their potential adventures at Sun Peaks,” says Melanie Simmons, Media Relations Specialist with Tourism Sun Peaks. “We’ve also been very impressed with the amount of comments on the videos at www.snowbumcanada.com. Feedback from the public will definitely come into play during the judging process!”
The campaign website has received 15,000 visits since the launch and has seen over 85,000 page views.
The Snow Bum will spend three months at BC’s second largest ski area, skiing, snowboarding, tubing, snowmobiling, or even dog sledding! The prize includes a season’s pass, food vouchers, accommodation, equipment, outerwear and VIP passes to resort events and functions.
The winner of the Snow Bum contest will be asked to use social media avenues and the official Snow Bum blog to keep the world informed about their adventures at Sun Peaks Resort. Several contestants have already taken initiative to set up Facebook Fan Pages, or Twitter accounts to gain support and comments from the public on their video entries.
Potential contestants have until 6:00pm PST on November 15, 2009 to enter.
Sun Peaks’ judges will announce the finalists on November 19, who will undergo an interview and written-essay assessment. The winner will be announced December 1 and begin their three month stay on January 4, 2010. Contestants must be at least 19 years or older and have an applicable visa for the duration of their stay if from outside of Canada. Full contest rules at www.snowbumcanada.com.
