Riders Go Big at PMPS

COPPER MOUNTAIN, CO (Dec. 12) – Canada’s Jordan Phillips and Hana Beaman (Salt Lake City, UT) launched onto the top of the podium for Saturday night’s Paul Mitchell Progression Session at Copper Mountain. A total of 22 male and four female riders displayed their tricks during the Jam Session.

Phillips proved he went the biggest, rocking tricks as he rode down the course. Norway’s Gjermund Braten and Johnny Paxon (Gresham, OR) also landed some sick tricks as they soared onto the podium with Phillips. (more…)

Winter Storm Dumps Over Two Feet of Snow at Park City Mountain Resort

Park City, UT (December 13, 2009) – Park City Mountain Resort received over two feet of snow from a big winter storm that blanketed the Wasatch Mountains. Thanks to the new snow, the Resort is expected to open three additional lifts on Monday, December 14, 2009.

“What a difference a storm makes,” said Krista Parry, director of marketing and communications for Park City Mountain Resort. “It just takes one big storm, like this one, to get the mountain in excellent shape.” (more…)

Clark, White, Open Grand Prix With Wins

COPPER MOUNTAIN, CO (Dec. 12) – Olympic Champions Shaun White (Carlsbad, CA) and Kelly Clark (Mt. Snow, VT) were killing it as usual Saturday as they landed runs to finish first at the Sprint U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix – the first of five Olympic qualification events.

Gretchen Bleiler (Aspen, CO) and Louie Vito (Sandy, UT) took the second spots for men and women, and Zack Black (Breckenridge, CO) and Spain’s Quera Castellet were third. (more…)

Winter returns with more than a foot of new snow at Maine’s tallest resort

CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine – Sugarloaf will open for the 2009-10 winter season at 8:30am Sunday, Nov. 28, after more than a foot of new snow blanketed the resort’s higher elevations on Friday night. The mountain recorded eight inches at the base, and better than 12 inches at the top of SuperQuad, with drifts topping two feet. (more…)

BIG SKY, Mont. —Big Sky area skiers can earn their over-indulgent Thanksgiving dinner by burning calories on the ski slopes earlier in the day. Early season snowfall is currently 20% above average providing a spectacular opening weekend. The resort will open the 2009-10 ski season on Thursday, November 26 with nearly 700 acres of skiable terrain and will provide the longest season for any resort in the region. (more…)
