Meathead Films Screening at Mount Snow

WEST DOVER, VT (December 22, 2008) – The screening of Meathead Films’ east coast ski epic, “Head for the Hills,” originally scheduled for December 12 at the Snow Barn at Mount Snow, has been rescheduled for January 16, 2009.
The screening will start at 7 p.m. and is open to all ages. DJ Manhole Cover will be spinning tunes after the film as the boys from Meathead give away prizes and DVDs. A few larger prizes will be raffled off.
The Snow Barn will be age 21+ from 9 p.m. on.

Wintergreen Brews Up Signature Lager For Guests This Season

WINTERGREEN, Va.; December 22, 2008 — Snow sports enthusiasts can replenish their spirits this season with Wintergreen Resort’s new signature craft beer, Wintergreen Hibernator, created specially for Wintergreen guests by the region’s premiere artisan brewery, Blue Mountain Brewery.
Originally brewed by monks in Bavaria to help sustain them through the Lenten fast, Hibernator is a German-style Doppelbock (German for “double strong”). Wintergreen Hibernator is being served at various Wintergreen Resort beverage locations, including the Copper Mine Restaurant, The Edge lounge and the Stoney Creek Bar & Grill at Stoney Creek Golf Club (playable year-round). Historic Firsts Mark Inaugural Finals at Winter Dew Tour

BRECKENRIDGE, COLO. – Dec. 19, 2008 – Shaun White was the first athlete to win a Summer Dew Tour event in skateboard vert and he continued that success on the Winter Dew Tour by becoming the first person to earn a winter victory. White scorched the competition on Friday at Breckenridge Ski Resort, earning a 95.17 and capturing the first Winter Dew Tour men’s snowboard slopestyle title.
While White secured a spot at the top of the slopestyle point standings on Friday, the 2006 Olympic Gold Medalist isn’t finished for the weekend and still has hopes of earning yet another win. White will compete in the Superpipe prelims on Saturday and, if he advances, the finals on Sunday live on NBC (1 p.m. – 3 p.m. ET). (more…)
Big Snow = Big Terrain Openings

We’ve received nearly two feet of snow in the past week (it’s still snowing) and we’re opening a lot more terrain in the next couple of days! By early next week, we will have 90 percent of our lifts open. The forecast calls for storms on Friday, Monday and through Christmas Day!!

HOOD RIVER, Ore. (December 17, 2008) – A love for the mountains, passion for the sport, and a need for technical, yet stylish outerwear set three guys on a mission to create the ultimate outerwear collection. Tripp Frey, John and Chris Pew are proud to announce the creation of TREW and its inaugural TREW Tour.
The TREW crew will be touring the western USA and Canada to introduce people to its product and to the new approach to technical outerwear. A customized TREW RV, complete with solar panels, will be traveling throughout the U.S. starting in December and ending whenever the snow melts. Dc’s “movers And Shakers” Grow $30,181 For Movember

Dec. 17, 2008—VISTA, CA— For the second consecutive year, DC’s “MOvers and Shakers” were the number one Movember USA Team with a total of $30,181.71 raised for the nonprofit Movember. Besides being the number one team, DC’s involvement expanded this year with numerous contests, a sandal, and participation from DC’s team riders.
To help support the cause, DC created “The DC Challenge” for the top four-man team to raise the most money for Movember. The giveaway offered an all expenses paid five-day trip to Park City, Utah, including a day of snowboarding at DC’s private MTN.LAB. Congratulations to The DC Challenge winning team – Haley’s M-O who raised $10,320 for Movember and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of America. (more…)

Salomon Snowboards is proud to announce the addition of Salt Lake City/Mammoth local Desiree Melancon to the 2009 Am Team. Finishing up last season with two video parts and a grip of editorial coverage, Melancon is pushing women’s snowboarding to the next level.
