Intense Sierra Storm Drops 3 Feet On Squaw Valley USA

[Squaw Valley USA] December 15, 2008- A strong cold North Pacific winter storm continues to fall today, accumulating at a rate of 1 inch per hour, with snow fall totals ranging between 22 and 36 inches at Squaw Valley USA. A winter storm warning is in effect for the Tahoe Basin and the National Weather Service is calling for another 18-30 inches by 10 pm tonight. First Snow Signals Start of Another Epic Season for Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge & Keystone

VAIL, Colo. – Oct. 22, 2008 – Mother Nature reminded skiers and snowboarders that the ski season is just around the corner with five inches of snow in Breckenridge this morning and a dusting of snow at the base areas of Vail, Beaver Creek and Keystone. Arapahoe Basin Opens for the Winter Season Wednesday, October 15, 2008

Arapahoe Basin, Colorado – October 13, 2008 – Arapahoe Basin ski area officials announce that its opening day for the 2008-2009 ski season will be Wednesday, October 15, 2008. For the past two years the ski area has been the first to open in the nation and this year A-Basin continues that trend.

The Exhibition chairlift will open to the public at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday. Skiers and riders can look forward to an 18-inch base on the intermediate High Noon run and some features in the High Divide Terrain Park. There will be no beginner skiing at this time.   Continue Reading »

Snow Guns Blazing at Sun Peaks Resort

October 10, 2008 – Sun Peaks, BC – Snowmaking has started at Sun Peaks…the earliest start in the history of the resort and the first in the country to start the Snowmaking 2 - Corey Wiwcharprocess. “We believe we are the first resort in Canada to start snowmaking this season,” says Anne Haight, Marketing Director with Sun Peaks Resort Corporation.

First Day of Fall or Winter? Snow Blankets Whistler Blackcomb Mountains
