WINTERGREEN, Va., October 19, 2007 – As part of its ongoing initiative to be energy efficient and environmentally responsible, Wintergreen Resort has purchased renewable energy credits (RECs) from Renewable Choice Energy that will significantly offset its consumption during the next year. GIRDWOOD, AK – Alyeska Resort announced today that it was offsetting the carbon footprint of 100 percent of the energy used by its Tram by purchasing 403,200 kilowatt-hours of annual renewable energy over the next ten years. Alyeska Resort’s purchased the carbon footprint offset through a partnership with Denali Green Tag’s Tour Green Program and Bonneville Environmental Foundation’s (BEF) SkiGreen program which provides clean energy options throughout the State of Alaska. “The Denali Green Tag program affords the resort and its customers an opportunity not only to offset much of Alyeska’s carbon footprint, but to do so in support of renewable energy resources right here at home, more specifically the Fire Island wind project,” commented John Byrne, Alyeska Resort owner. “I would like to thank Larry Daniels, Jason Lott, and Rosey Fletcher for bringing this issue to the forefront.
