		<description>Surface lifts (T-bars and Pomas) can be quite challenging at first, and can leave your inner thigh pretty sore too, regardless of whether or not you&#039;re strapped in.

Staying strapped in or not will really depend on the lift, how easily you can get to and away from the lift while strapped in, and how comfortable you are at skating and gliding. 

In many locations you&#039;ll need to skate up to the lift at the base and away from the lift at the top, and it may be too much hassle to stay strapped in. In other spots, you can cruise right up to the lift with both feet strapped in, and head right back up.

A few tips with surface lifts:
1. Hold on with both hands, and keep some of the tension off your inner thigh. We don&#039;t use our arms a whole lot in snowboarding, but a sore leg can shorten your day. Rather than letting the T-bar or Poma pull on your front leg, grip the handle with both hands, and pull yourself up-hill sightly, so the weight of your entire body isn&#039;t hanging from your front leg.

2. Keep your weight slightly over one edge or the other, similar to riding on a cat-track. Riding flat will encourage the board to catch an edge and yank you over.

3. If you do fall, gather yourself up and clear yourself away from the lift traffic as fast as you can; don&#039;t count on the person behind you being able to steer around you.</description>
