The 2009 Burton Global Open Series- Six Stops, Six Countries

Electric’s Jamie Anderson and Chas Guldemond were crowned the Champions for both men and women overall in the 2009 BGOS. The Burton Global Open Series has six stops in six countries: USA, New Zealand, Australia, Europe, Canada, and Asia. Both Jamie and Chas took home $100,000.00 for winning the most progressive and competitive snowboard series in the world. Jamie and Chas competed at every stop in the BGOS and traveled all over the world to earn one of the most esteemed titles in their Snowboard careers, the 2009 BGOS, Men and Women’s Champion. Electric would like to express our gratitude and congratulations to Jamie and Chas for having the year of their life!
Jamie took a bad fall during the US Open and ruptured her Spleen so she was not on hand to receive her Check and Trophy, Burton made her a big “get well soon” card and some of her competitors and friends were on hand to receive her Award in her place. (more…)
Bonfire and Salomon Rookie Matt Ladley Slays Arctic Challenge

OSLO, Norway–Matt Ladley may not be old enough to buy smokes, but after recovering from a shattered collarbone in December he proved that he still knows how to get high with lofty amplitude and a variety of tricks at the Arctic Challenge where he snagged 2nd place and an award for Best Trick. Las Vegas’ Hard Rock Casino was the site of this year’s annual TransWorld SNOWboarding Rider’s Poll Awards. Hundreds of snowboarders and industry heads gathered at the award show to honor the most accomplished rider’s of the year. January 29, 2009 – Quiksilver team-rider Travis Rice cleans up at the 2009 Transworld SNOWboarding Riders’ Poll Awards presented by GORE-TEX® taking home four honors including Men’s Rider of the Year, Reader’s Choice for Men’s Rider of the Year, Men’s Video Part of the Year and Standout of the Year. A virtual sweep at the Riders’ Poll comes in the midst of a big month for the 25-year-old.

“Snowboarding comes from the kids making it possible – it’s all about you,” Rice said from the podium after winning his second award of the night. “Thanks to Red Bull and Quiksilver for believing what we say and helping us to make it happen.” On receiving his final honor of the night, Men’s Rider of the Year, an award voted on by his peers in snowboarding, Rice graciously honored them back by listing off the many contributions other riders have made to snowboarding this year.
