Snow Sports Market Sets Billion Dollar Record in December

MCLEAN, Va. (Jan. 27, 2011) – The snow sports market sold more than $1 billion worth of equipment apparel and accessories in December alone and reached $2.1 billion season-to-date. This is the first time in history snow sports sales have topped a billion dollars for sales in a single month.

Sales through December this season are 16% higher in dollars sold and 10% more units sold compared to the same time last season. With excellent snow conditions across the U.S. and improved consumer confidence 2010.11 is predicted to be the best season ever for the market.

DENVER, CO (January 31, 2010) – SIA’s inaugural Snow Show in Denver brought together plenty of A-list media, athletes, personalities and politicians to the halls of the Colorado Convention Center. Finding their way around a new city and convention hall took a little practice for longtime Show attendees, but it was hard to resist the friendly city that holds the number spot for urban snow sports purchases. People on the street, elevators and at bars were asking– “Are you with the Snow Show?” And, the industry took notice. (more…)

SIA Snow Show Will Take Over Denver from January 28-31

MCLEAN, Va. (Jan. 25, 2010) – After being in Vegas for 37 years, this week SIA will head to a city that truly embraces snow sports. From January 28-31, the 2010 SIA Snow Show will take over downtown Denver and deliver the hottest snow sports trends, innovations, educational seminars, product presentations, personalities, events, concerts, meetings and parties. The sold-out Snow Show will feature over 3,100 exhibitors representing over 800 snow sports brands, including over 125 new exhibitors. After the Show, the industry will head up to the mountains for the first international On-Snow Demo/Free Ride Fest (February 1-2) at Winter Park Resort and Devil’s Thumb Ranch, where the industry will get together to demo the gear they’ve just seen at the Show and to ski, ride and slide together. Denver to Host National Youth Summit Growing Movement to Get One Million Kids in Winter Sports by 2020

January 26, 2010 (DENVER, CO) —With an estimated 20,000 attendees packing the Convention Center in Denver for the SnowSports Industries America (SIA) trade show at the end of the month, a movement has emerged to engage more youth in winter sports.

The SIA Snow Show itself highlights some of the latest trends and innovations in the winter sports industry while showcasing the importance of the $3 billion industry to the U.S. and Colorado’s economy. A number of Show attendees, representing manufacturers, retailers, resorts and nonprofits have joined forces with government agencies and politicians to promote the benefits of getting youth involved in winter sports activities.
