This is it folks! The announcement that we’ve been getting at least a dozen calls, fifteen MySpace messages, and a few emails a day about. The date has been set, the wheels and gears have been set in motion - BoardFest 2008 is going down on Saturday, Oct 11th from noon until 8PM. Since the event has grown so much, we realized that Buffalo St. can’t contain us any longer so we’re moving it to the parking lot directly behind the building.

We’ve contracted Doug and the guys at Freshtip Design to construct the ramp for the rail jam and believe me, this year will go down in the record books. We’re getting almost twice as much space on the scaffolding to accommodate double the rail count of last year. We’ve also decided to double the field of competitors to 100 to ensure that we get the broadest range of riders in the contest this year and make sure that there’s nonstop action all day. Academy Award winning special effects artist Dieter Sturm will again be bringing out his margarita mobile to make more snow than we’ve ever had before. We’ve locked in pro snowboarders Louie Vito from Omatic and Pat Milbury from Red Bull to come in and judge the contest this year.

We’ll be busting out all of the new 2009 snow gear at 10% off for the only time between now and late winter. Reps from all of the manufacturers will be on hand to answer any questions you have and get you set up with the right equipment to take your season from being just good to being epic. Those guys are always good for some stickers or other free knick-knacks too.

On the musical performance tip, we’ve locked in a rogues gallery of local hip-hop talent. These guys will be performing all day long to guarantee the crowd stays hype from bell to bell. Check the list:

DJs -
• DJ Madhatter
• Kid Cut Up
• Vilas Park Sniper

Performers -
• Rusty Ps
• Haz Solo
• Aprime
• Gamit

New to the event this year is the Guitar Hero challenge sponsored by Scion. We’ll have two cars with TVs mounted in them with an all day tournament with the two best scores from the day battling in front of the assembled crowd for a pretty sizable prize. Another addition this year is a Design a Deck booth in cooperation with non-profit hip-hop based education group, TrueSkool. Participants will have the opportunity to make a skate deck of their own creation and enter it into a contest to become the newest MODA3 shop deck for fall.

There’s a lot more going on that I just don’t have the space for, so peep the news section of MODA3.com for the complete list and info on the afterparty at Moct. The rider list for the contest will be posted starting Monday and updated every couple days after that. If you’re interested in competing, send me an email and I will make sure you get the sign up sheets that you need.

Peace.
Keef Love.
