Washington, D.C., August, 2008- Reware, the company known for its solar-powered Juice Bags, has released a new line of American-made bags that includes messenger bags, hobo bags and attachés. All of the bags are made from recycled materials.

“Reware Bags are proof that you can offer high-quality, American-made, environmentally conscious products at a reasonable price,” says Henry Gentenaar, of Reware. “We’re big fans of localization over globalization and work hard to support local producers and craftspeople to make products the average person can afford.”

Reware begins by creating their signature Rewoven™-brand fabric, which is available in recycled and organic varieties. Their recycled PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate—one of the most common plastic resins used in the world today) is a high-quality polyester fiber that begins as discarded two-liter soda bottles. The bottles are deconstructed and repurposed as a fiber that’s re-woven into a cloth that the company says is extremely durable and water resistant. Depending on the style of bag, from three to ten soda bottles are used to make the fabric for each Reware bag, keeping the bottles out of landfills.

The company’s recycled cotton is said to contain the highest proportion of guaranteed post-consumer cotton available anywhere in the world, with a 75/25 mix (recycled/new).

“Reware-brand bags are 100% guaranteed as post-consumer and 100% made in the USA,” says Gentenaar. “Many bags are sold as either recycled, post consumer, or made in the USA, but unfortunately, that’s often not the case. With Reware Bags, you’re getting the real thing.”

On August 1st, Reware introduced four bags; an attaché, messenger bag, women’s hobo bag and Everyday Tote, all made from recycled fabrics. “We use Rewoven fabric in a production process that employs talented American craftspeople who make our products to exacting standards,” says Gentenaar. “We’re excited by the idea that you can indeed make not only high-quality products in the U.S., but high-quality environmentally-conscious products.”
