POW PARTNER UPDATE
Protect Our Winters is honored to welcome our most recent corporate contributors: Burton, Vans, The First Cornerstone Foundation and Grand Targhee Resort. They join The Evergreen Alliance (Rossignol, Dynastar, Lange), Origin Design, Teton Gravity Research, Ski Press and 1% for the Planet. Each of our partners represents a growing number of companies taking the lead in addressing the environment and we’re honored that they’ve decided to work with us as we all address climate change together. Visit our website for direct links to their corporate sites to read more about their sustainable practices and amazing products.

SOLAR 4R SCHOOLS
With the help of the Evergreen Alliance, we continue to support Bonneville Environmental Foundation’s Solar 4R Schools program and have confirmed a new location: Champlain Valley Union High School in Hinesburg, VT. The program installs rooftop solar panels and educational kiosks in classrooms and provides hands-on curriculums to teachers to help teach students the importance and benefits of renewable energy.

“MY OWN TWO FEET” POW PREMIERES
Protect our Winters has partnered with Leeward Cinema for the release of their film, “My Own Two Feet,” and are inviting POW members to get involved this Fall and use the film to raise funds for local sustainability and/or educational efforts. “My Own Two Feet” is the first feature-length action sports film shot entirely using sustainable methods and features athletes such as Josh Dirksen, Erik Leines, Jeremy Jones, Dave Downing, Temple Cummings, Chris Demoslki, Tom Burt, Stacy Thomas, Chad Otterstrom, and friends. As global warming impacts our mountain climates, it’s time for the influential leaders in the industry to stand up and make a statement. Athletes, industry and film producers have to lead by example, showcasing a more responsible attitude as it relates to the environment, to preserve the winters we all enjoy.

We want to use this film to spread the word about sustainability and offering it to our members to raise funds for their local environmental or educational efforts. POW will provide the film and the marketing art to create posters, ads, etc. and in exchange, we ask that you host the film showing and that all donations/ticket receipts raised be donated to POW and directed to an environmental initiative near you. Big or small, it all makes a difference. Please visit our website or contact us at info@protectyourwinters.org for more information.

JUST DO THIS ONE THING…
As we approach the election season, be as smart as you can about the candidates and their stance on the environment, fossil fuel sustainability and climate change. We’re at a critical point in our history where the environment needs to take a front seat on the President’s agenda. Read as much as you can now and be prepared to vote having been educated on the many different aspects of this critical issue. Tell your friends to not only vote, but to be smart about who stands for the issues you care about.
