Application Deadline: June 20th at 3:00pm

June 17, 2008 – Two local riders will have a unique opportunity to attend the Glacier Snowboard Camp in Whistler this summer, thanks to the Bluebird Day Fund at Sun Peaks Resort.

The Bluebird Day Fund was formed in November 2006 in memory of Bryn Taylor, who died in a car crash near Ashcroft, BC. Bryn had moved to Sun Peaks to pursue his passion for snowboarding and was an active member of the Sun Peaks community. Sponsored by Oronge Board Shop, Bryn was one of the most talented and promising riders at the resort.

This is the second year in a row the Bluebird Day Fund has sent two riders to the Glacier Snowboard Camp. Last year, Mac Lefebvre and Lee Crana took advantage of the opportunity to enhance their skills in Whistler. The Glacier Snowboard Camp caters to snowboarders of all levels and with only 30 campers per session, it’s a fantastic opportunity to learn from incredibly skilled coaches. Most campers are between the ages of 14 and 18 years old, but the camp is open to anyone over the age of 12 years old.

Funding to send local riders to camps like the Glacier Snowboard Camp comes from several different avenues, including terrain park events like “The Garden” where all proceeds go directly to the Bluebird Day Fund.

This year, Endeavor Snowboards has partnered with the Bluebird Day Fund to sell specially designed snowboards in memory of Bryn. Half of the proceeds from the $500.00 boards will go directly to the Bluebird Day Fund to continue to support local riders at Sun Peaks.

Since its inception in November 2006, the Bluebird Day Fund has successfully raised enough money to purchase a new feature each year for the Sun Peaks Terrain Park. A Wall Ride, Down Flat Down, and 50 Foot Flat Box are all features in the park that have been donated by the Bluebird Day Fund.

The application deadline for sponsorship to attend the Glacier Snowboard Camp is Friday, June 20, 2008 at 3pm. Completed applications can be returned to Oronge Board Shop at 257 Victoria Street in Kamloops or emailed to oronge@mail.ocis.net.
