Las Vegas, NV (January 29, 2008) — Burton is proud to announce a new edition to its extensive product family—meet Mini Shred, the first snowboard-specific outerwear line for the tiniest rippers sized 2T to 6. Also new for 2009, Burton has completely re-designed the Chopper® and Chicklet™ and added to its youth hardgoods line with the Custom Smalls and Feelgood Smalls, refined versions of our most legendary boards, complete with the same graphics the pros are rocking.

Thanks to Burton’s Mini Shred, gone are the days when little kids only had two options—start on skis or stick to sledding. Burton engineers spent plenty of days on the hill with their own kids to reinvent the way little ones learn to ride. Rethinking our entire board, boot, and binding line, we set out to develop entirely new constructions and features that would revolutionize kids’ first experiences at the mountain.

Here are the hardgoods tech highlights from the new Mini Shred and Youth lines:

New Easy Rider Construction
Burton’s new Easy Rider™ construction gives kids an easier-to-ride, softer flexing snowboard that encourages progression. More than just relaxed versions of our other kid’s boards, the Chicklet and Chopper feature less dramatic side-cuts, mellower camber and edge tunes, and even edges that are turned up on the base to make turning and stopping simple. Traction pads on the 90cm and 100cm sizes let the littlest kid skate around and get comfortable before they’re ready to mount up a pair of bindings.

New Speed Zone Express Boot Lacing
The Ruler™ Smalls and Emerald™ Smalls feature our new Speed Zone Express™ lacing for an even faster, easier and more comfortable version of the world’s fastest boot lacing system. All it takes is a one-handed pull of the single lace cable and your little grom’s feet are locked in place, wrapped in continuous comfort from the top of the boot down.

Grom-friendly Features
For the kids with feet as small as size 11, Burton created the Grom boot, which features our new Shred Ready lace-less system, as well as the Grom binding, which features oversized buckles to give kids with the littlest paws an easy way in and out of their setup, without any help from mom or dad. The Grom boot even features a specially designed outsole that gives the Mini Shreds added warmth, traction and comfort for playing outside all day.

Mini Shred Outerwear
In addition to all-new hardgoods, Burton created a full line of high-performance outerwear for little boys and girls in sizes 2T to 6. Both Mini Shred boys and girls outerwear lines feature a one-piece snowsuit, and a jacket and pants that offer authentic snowboard tech and style for the youngest riders.

With all the latest developments for the groms, we can’t forget about the kids who are already ripping. Our Youth Team is a wrecking force, throwing down on the hill, dropping-jaws and taking names. Torturing is what they’re all about—that’s why we go the extra mile to kit them out from head-to-toe in gear that not only takes the abuse, but lets them look good doing it. We get them involved from the start of our development process to guarantee their gear is in step with their style, and loaded with features that let them do their thing like only they can.
