Beaver Creek, Colo., Nov. 20, 2007— Beaver Creek Resort announced today that it will move the resort’s 2007-2008 season opening day from Wednesday, Nov. 21 to Friday, Nov. 23. The National Weather Service is calling for a significant change in weather starting tonight with forecasts calling for both natural snowfall and temperatures in the low teens this week, ideal conditions for making snow.

“With this forecast, we will be able to finish snowmaking at the base of the mountain for a Friday opening and the holiday weekend,” said John Garnsey, chief operating officer for Beaver Creek Resort.

Snowmaking efforts will increase with the colder temperatures as crews continue to make snow on the Latigo and Haymeadow runs and the Birds of Prey racecourse. Beaver Creek is preparing to host the world’s fastest skiers at the Charles Schwab Birds of Prey World Cup Nov. 29-Dec. 2.

Guests spending the Thanksgiving holiday in Beaver Creek can enjoy family activities. Holiday celebrations include the fourth annual Beaver Creek Cookie Competition to be held from 2-2:30 p.m. Wednesday and the traditional Beaver Creek Tree Lighting Ceremony and Fantasy Gingerbread House Competition taking place from 5:30-8 p.m. Friday. Complimentary ice skating and other children’s activities will be scheduled within the village. Guests visiting Beaver Creek can park for free in the parking lots along Highway 6 in Avon and ride a shuttle to the village. Beaver Creek Village paid parking will begin on Friday.

Vail Mountain opens tomorrow, Nov. 21, and Breckenridge and Keystone, which are already operating for the season, recently opened additional beginner and intermediate terrain for the Thanksgiving holiday period.
