Author: Press ReleaseLake Tahoe, CA (November 15, 2007) - A hand-picked group of fifteen girls will be rocking the Girl Powder logo on and off the slopes this season. From sunny California to quaint Wisconsin, and ranging from 11 to 29 years old, the eleven snowboarders and four skiers make up a unique team of powerful girls.

The 2008 Girl Powder team includes snowboarders Kimberly Achelis, Summer Andersion, Laurie Currier, Kalyn Benaroya, Kate Jomes, Alison Papworth, Mandy Schelldorf, Nicole Slechta, Tara Stef, Stacey Stenton, Cierra Xavier, and skiers Heidi Adamson, Katie Dill, Helena Stevenson, and Britt White.
“Girl Powder is truly a unique company and I appreciate the core values and philosophy the company supports,” says 23-year-old Tara Stef from Steamboat Springs, CO. “Girl Powder is a company that embraces femininity in an edgy ‘don’t mess with us’ type of way. It supports camaraderie.”
As part of their Girl Powder duties each member is required to participate in three contests during the season and submit video and riding shots. Check out extended rider profiles at www.girlpowder.com and www.myspace.com/girlpowder. You can catch the girls wherever the snow falls showing their skills at contests and beating boys down the slopes all day long.
“Members of the Girl Powder team are leaders both on the slope, and in their community. Not only do they have a love for the snow, but they also love to help and see other girls get on the mountain,” says Founder and President Joel Lackovich.
“Being sponsored by Girl Powder we can be ourselves, go big, and try new things. This is exactly how I am and I’m stoked to be able to represent Girl Powder in any way I can both on and off the slope,” says Katie Dill, 17, from Lake Tahoe, CA.
The Girl Powder posse will be representing at many resorts and events this season, including the “Show Us Your Snow Dance” in the Girl Powder tent at Southern California’s Mountain High Resort on December 15, and at Girl Powder’s infamous “Pink Party” at the World Ski and Snowboard Festival this coming spring.
Founded in 2002, Girl Powder’s purpose is to empower women and broaden awareness of female snow sports through their fashionable clothing, online community, and monthly events. Initially started as an online ride share message board for women to connect with one another, and find an alternative to hitch-hiking up to the hill, Girl Powder is now a growing presence on the web, and the slopes, and represents a lifestyle and a way of life.
