Summertime for the Volcom snow team is finally coming to an end and what a busy summer it has been. With all the new snow movies that premiered in the last few weeks, a month long trip to New Zealand, catalog shoots, tradeshows to attend and those last summer swells to shred, saying that things have been busy would definitely be an understatement. Fall is right around the corner, but before we get there we’ll catch you up to date on what has been going on in the last couple of months:

After wrapping up his part in the Rome Snowboards team video, “Any Means”, Bjorn Leines packed his bags and headed home to Minnesota for some mudding and fishing. He and younger brother Erik Leines then spent some time at High Cascade Snowboard Camp for their “Leines Brothers” signature camp session. After that, Bjorn met up with the rest of the boys down in New Zealand for some all time Heli action, while Erik spent the some time slashing his local break in San Clemente. Not a bad life, huh?

Wille Yli-Luoma also held his annual signature session at HCSC this summer, this being his third consecutive season. Wille also spent the year filming with the Mack Dawg crew and has a banging section of mostly nighttime riding in their newest movie, “Picture This”. If you haven’t seen the movie, you need to get your hands on it now. We also got some footage of Wille from the Mack Dawg Productions that we used for an online video of him in our new Ridiculously Limited Tie Dye Outerwear. Seth also has the opening part in Mack Dawg’s new movie, “Picture This”.

Mark Landvik made a late trip to Norway with the Standard Film crew, whom he filmed with all season for their new movie, “Chase the Vapors”. All the time he put in sure paid off, as Landvik has one of the longest parts in the movie clocking in at over five minutes. Lando celebrated by jumping on a plane to meet the rest of the Volcom crew down in New Zealand where they scored even more epic riding via heli’s.

Chris Demolski was also working hard all winter and was rewarded with a stellar part in “Chase the Vapors” along side of European team rider Juuso Laivisto. Make sure you get down to your local shred shop and grab a copy of the movie if you missed out on one of the star studded premieres. After relaxing at home in Reno for the summer, Demolski headed down to NZ to get to work with the rest of the boys.

When Eero Niemela wasn’t chasing waves and ladies in South Orange County all summer, he was also down in New Zealand, doing some product testing and catalog shoots with the rest of the team. Eero scored the opening section in Whiteout Films newest, “Season 4”.

After an impressive performance at the ASJ contest, Louie headed south to New Zealand and Australia where he placed second in the prestigious Australian Open.

Zac Marben was another regular to spend some quality time up in Mt. Hood this summer, as he scored a job as the trampoline coach at HCSC. After Hood, Zac joined fellow team riders: Eero, Louie, Brisse and Demolski in New Zealand. Zac has a stand out section in MDP’s, “We’re People Too”.

Dan Brisse was another young one that put together a solid performance at the ASJ in Mt. Hood, finishing third in the Slopestyle contest and taking home a nice chunk of change for his efforts. The Brisse then followed key and spent his first summer session in New Zealand and came through with a nother third place finfish in the New Zealand Open. Dan is also rumored to have a great part in the new Capita team movie, “First Kiss”.

Wild in the streets, the Volcom streetwear team is all over the place. The Norwegian Viking, Terje Haakonsen earned himself the title as Snowboarder Magazine’s, “Most influential Snowboarder”. Terje also scored a 14-page interview in Snowboarder Magazine, giving insight and clearing the air regarding his disposition with the IOC. The highlight of Terje’s summer was when he took a two-week surf trip on a luxury ship to Mexico with professional surfers Bruce and Andy Irons, as well as a dozen other close friends.

Kevin Pearce took home a pair of second place finishes at the ASJ in the quarterpipe and halfpipe. He’s took a nice summer break at spent some quality time surfing and skating in San Diego, before heading off to New Zealand for a little heli action with the rest of the crew. Kevin and Shaun White also teamed up for one hell of a halfpipe part in “Picture This”.

Holy moly… as soon as winter comes to an end, Shaun White is on his skateboard and obviously he’s serious about that. He’s once again leading the Dew Tour with three victories in a row on the 2007 tour. Top that off with a gold medal in the Summer X Games and Shaun is looking more unstoppable than ever. Shaun will be in Salt Lake City for the fourth stop in the Dew Tour and is fired up to take all five this year. In between skate comps, Shaun got a chance to blow off some steam as a bunch of his closest friends headed out to Las Vegas to celebrate his 21st birthday.
